COURSE DESCRIPTION

It does not matter how skilled, knowledgeable or experienced a person may be, if they do not have Emotional Intelligence they can be a hindrance to a business costing, a lot in time and energy

These needed but draining members of staff often resort to

  • ‘its not my fault…..’
  • ‘I didn’t know……’
  • The Blame Game. ‘So and so did no give me the reports and that is why my work is not up to date.’  ‘its their fault……’
  • My manager just does not understand me.  Its unfair that……..
  • Its always been done this way and that is that!  This is very often the loyal person that has been at your side building the business that is so resistant to change that they sabotage the business moving forward.

All of this points to lack of responsibility where employees develop negative behaviors to not be Accountable to the task at hand. This builds a culture that is very unsafe and people feel threatened and stifled.  Definitely not conducive to a healthy, productive and efficient working environment.

 

THE EQ WORKSHOP AIMS TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES

  • Finding a definition of Emotional Intelligence in the workplace and why it is important to all aspects of life
  • Defining the ‘Games we Play. Recognizing and reframing the Saboteur, the Victim and the Child in the work place.
  • Recognizing how we minimize the self in everyday interactions.
  • How to have a confrontational conversation in a way that both parties benefit. This brings about clear, concise communication.
  • How to reach agreements so that the work gets done efficiently, timeously and effectively.
  • How to recognize and manage the ‘monkey mind’.
  • The participants are given tools to use to reframe the negative behavior. The most important aspect is for the participant to become conscious of these ‘games’ because only then can they apply the tools and begin the journey of positive change in all areas of their life.

The recommendation is that the 16 hour course is divided into 8 x 2 hour weekly sessions.  This way the individual has time to apply and integrate the learning.
