Based on her life path in both learning and experience, Michelle has the unique ability to bring together both left hand thinking (logical, rational) and right brain thinking (imagination, spiritual, emotional). Her Degree in Geography and Psychology as well as her UJ course in Business Strategies has given her the theoretical background. Fourteen years experience in the family business at Forward Air & Sea, working up from the bottom to being at the helm has given her very solid practical business experience. Michelle’s love of people and what makes them tick is reflected in her having her own life coaching, healing and counselling business since 1999. She has always supported her interests with the theoretical knowledge and to this end is a Master NLP Practitioner and Metamorphosis Healer. She has also studied and applied Psycho Neuro Immunology and Neuro Semantics. Michelle has a preference for holistic, original, spatial and metaphoric thinking and is also comfortable with factual, logical, rational and critical thinking processes. She has a knack for finding hidden possibilities and is future orientated. And is equally comfortable with tasks that require precision, accuracy and analysis based on factual information. She is in touch with her intuition and uses it to find out the ‘invisibles’ in a business. Her forte is bringing these ‘unmentionalbes’ into the open to be dealt with in a meaningful and constructive way. When working with others she has a natural sense of diplomacy and is a caring, empathetic listener. A good quality for a coach to have. Her communication with others tends to be accurate and she provides and explains information in a factual manner. The biggest mistake a person can make is thinking that Michelle is too nice and will not be firm enough in implementing change. Part of her strengths is her innate ability in holding people Responsible and being Accountable. The two biggest elements lacking in the workplace today.

Regular breaks are the secret to creativity, energy and balance.

It is ironic that business leaders who know they should be working smarter and creating the time to relax are still not taking regular breaks. And when they do it is often clouded with guilt. To assuage the guilt they take with them their cell phone, laptop and tablet and make sure there is adequate Wi-Fi at their holiday destination. They convince themselves and their loved ones that it is just ‘for an hour a day’. Nine times out of 10 they come back from the break exhausted. They are still stuck. The problems are the same and their creativity and energy are still at a low.

Why coaching does not work

It may seem strange that as a business and executive coach I am going to address the issue of why coaching does not work.
What follows is based on my experience of coaching over the last 15 years.
